About Us
⚓ Our Story
Salty Kiss was inspired by my grandpa, Captain Sarge Werner, who began his fishing journey as a charter boat captain in the 1970’s on his boat, The Hawk, out of Bud N’ Mary’s in Islamorada, Florida.
He later moved into commercial fishing with my Uncle Wayne Werner, a lifelong commercial fisherman and advocate who fought for commercial fishermen during the development of the IFQ/ITQ fishing quota systems.
That love for the water continued through our family. My baby brother, Captain Marshall Gross, worked alongside Uncle Wayne for many years, learning the commercial fishing industry from him before Wayne passed. Marshall has now spent more than 20 years working in the commercial fishing industry and continues that legacy today.
After my grandpa stepped away from commercial fishing, he loved buying, restoring, and flipping boats. Shortly after my grandmother, Ruthie, passed, he bought a boat named “Salty Kiss.” This was the last boat I got to help him clean up and work on before he passed.
I loved that name. It stayed with me for years after my grandpa passed, and I always dreamed of turning it into something meaningful.
And here we are.
